Amazing the new fronds look fabulous ,the old ones look pretty good I expect they did the job of protecting it throughout the winter ...

The old fronds were in such good condition, it was a shame to remove them, but the new ones were needed some space!

Lol yes they are nt cheap are they. A few years ago an Indian fruit and veg shop had a huge one for £40.00 but I could nt afford it then I even tried to barter him down to £20.00 telling him it was expensive lol no harm in trying a girl has to try. 😊

Hi there, Paulsplants, get the largest you can afford...would be my advice, they grow too slowly!! and stake it for the first couple of years.......and most importantly water, water water........cover in winter, even though we live in the South we still cover it up, when you spend that kind of money you dont want to lose it!!........give it plenty of room, the roots spread up to three ft, nobody ever tells you that!! and strangles anything delicate growing alongside it......it can be fed, just makes it more lush!!
Buy from a respectable dealer, should come with a label to say it has been sourced from reliable country, dont ever buy one with the top closing up!! the more fronds appearing the better! once the top seals over, thats it!!
I hope I havent put you off!! we have three in the garden and one in a pot which is being hospitalised!!
Go for it, you wont be disappointed!!
