What a stunning photo! Beautiful flower!

Hywel - it is a shame. Shame that the flowers are so susceptible to slugs and snails too.
Thank you Delonix!

Is it outside with you ? I keep mine under cover but slugs sometimes eat into the fleshy body.

Yup, outdoors except for when it's frosty. Slugs eat the flower buds but seem to leave the body alone here.

I don't think cacti would like being outside here. It's too wet.

During the winter they have overhead protection.

You're lucky, it's dryer in Oxfordshire. Even under a cloche here it would get too damp and cold for them.

Especially under a cloche as there would be no air movement. I just move it under the eaves of the house. When it gets really cold they go into the shed with some bubble wrap over them.

Mine are in a cold conservatory but I put a heater in there when it gets frosty because there are some that are not as hardy. I don't separate them out.

Lack of space is a real sod!
I like to push the limits a bit, it's the fun side of gardening.

I don't actually like to take risks. The plants are like my pets and I don't want to loose them lol
