I know they are stunning...however, they get so neglected. I guess I should take better care of them. lol

I have a small pot of these beauties on my windowsill. I'm just amazed at them they seem so hardy. When I was given the cuttings I was travelling...and I put them in my purse and forgot about them until I was home...! two days later..lol. thought they were goners and stuck them into a black plastic bag of compost...then I found out that I had unwittingly done the correct thing...they had calloused very well and I had roots inside of a week!!! The black plastic held the heat and moisture and they were just in heaven! Up here they can stand a good deal more sun than they could in San Diego...but I put them in a shade house over the summer.

Yes, Epiphyllum is very hardy and easy to grow...I actually forgot I had these plants until I saw them blooming in the weeds next to my unheated greenhouse. They grow as an epiphtye in the their native tropical rain forest. They will grow in full hot sun here also...however, the leaves will turn reddish.
