Euphorbia lambii -Tree Euphorbia

Tree Euphorbia is a very commonly planted in CA. It can grow to 12ft/3.7m tall. It's not very showy, however, it's very drought tolerant, being native to the Canary Islands. Photo taken at San Diego Botanical Gardens on Mar. 1, 2011.

You would be surprised how many species of Euphorbia grows here (thousands of species/varieties). Most Euphorbia species are native to the tropics.

Yes some of the tender unusual species are very expensive to buy here.

That would be more impressive with lower branches pruned off. Then,they tend to look like mini Dragon Trees.

I think they want the fuller look. If it were in my garden it would have the lower branches cut off. Too many critters live in shrubs with branches to the ground.

We grow many different euphorbias, have not seen this one before, very pretty.
