Is it a Geranium Maderense Tommy?...Heartbreaking....

27 Feb, 2012

Yes, it is!
It looks pretty much dead.. I was looking forward to seeing the flowers for the first time this summer, so it's really painful to see the horrible state..

A similar thing happened mine 2 years ago...It grew beautifully all Summer and i fleeced it well for Winter, but it died anyway, it was a bad Winter...I was heartbroken too..xx

All the leaves have turned brown and the stems got mushy. It had been mild until mid January and the geranium was incredibly healthy. Then suddenly came the cold wave. HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT~~~!!!

So sorry to see your Geranium maderense dead! It's heartwrenching to see a favorite plant die. :>(

I'm going to leave it there until.. maybe May/June. The roots are still alive, perhaps?

Yes and no. The first one - yes, and the second one - I've just looked at it! Really, really nice!! I was expecting mine to bloom like that...... :-(

Thanks for the links :-)

Thanks! Hope yours will come back and bloom in summer!
I'm not sure how hardy the roots are...however, if they're deep they usually get insulated from cold.

Here's a website with some information.
