My Hamamelis 'Arnold promise' is just starting to flower I noticed yesterday. I shall have to take a pic.
Mind you he is not as tall as yours Andrew.

This one is ten years old now and usually opens the first buds in the second week of January. Last year it carried hardly any flowers but is making up for it this year
spritz - they should be OK on neutral soils, just give it lots of humus

Thanks, Andrew! I have some leaf mould ready for use - I'll give them both a present. :-)

Wow! It's flowering!
I do like Hamamelis - I am just keeping my fingers crossed that my new one doesn't object to neutral soil - I know it really prefers acid. H. 'Rubin' seems absolutely fine, so may be 'Arnold' will be OK - I suppose I could always give them a dose of sequestrene?
