meanie- i saw some indoor plants in tesco the other day that had green spear like foliage and just a single shoot in the middle just like the very end of this, do you think they're related? where is this growing from?? :-))

There are something like 150 species of Heliconia so the chances are that they are related.
The flowers emerge from the middle(ish) of the plant.
