Heliconia stricta - Jamaican Dwarf Heliconia

This is the first time this Heliconia has bloomed in 11 years, since a friend gave it to me. It was thought to be Heliconia 'Jamaican Dwarf' which is hardy here in San Diego, CA. Now that it has bloomed I've identified it as a variety of Heliconia psittacorum which is a much more tropical species (which I never though could grow here), SURPRISE!!!. lol!
