Its the light how it hits the camera Andy I ve found which is a shame. I got told by a proffesional photographer on my local history site when I take a photo of a red sun set go turn the settings down and it will show a better red. I fund reds to photograph.

Yes, this area is particularly difficult to get a good photo. It's the tropical area of the gardens, where there's gigantic trees for canopy for the under story plants and trees. The light is really bad for photos.

Thats a shame perhaps using your camera flash might help then.

No, unfortunately it doesn't help much. I don't have a DLSR camera. It's just a point and shoot, which is 8 years old now. I do need the settings to be redone, though. I think the white balance is off.

My proper camera is a lot older lol an oap in the human world he ce why I use my phone.
Next time you go perhaps you could change your settings then.

I've been taking a lot of photos with my iPhone. It has HDR (High Dynamic Range) which takes very high-quality photos.

Is there a species of Heliconia that isn't beautiful! H.rostrata is my favourite.

28 Sep, 2017

Yes, I need to get H. rostrata. It does grow here and flowers outside. It's just not very common. Heliconias are only easy to grow if you can give them tons and tons of water which is so scarce here.

My Heliconias haven't flowered in a couple of years. This year they are finally growing well because the severe, extreme historic six year drought is officially over this year. I can actually water them now.
