Looking forward to the new hybrid Kathy! I love the yellow ones! I have only taken one out of my garden to move with me next week...Kwanso. I know it's very 'common' but I cannot see past it, and also it was Mum that sent it to me. I hope it will survive the move ok, it's a huge root. I'll split it up when I get it out of it's pot....unless you have a better idea...? advice welcome!

Thanks Karen and Gg it is a good strong grower too already increased to 4 fans in its first year.
Think I'd be tempted to leave it in its pot till spring Karen somewhere sheltered I've stopped splitting mine for this year now they need around 6 weeks to establish before the cold sets in, it is a lovely one I have it to very vigorous, thats one thats not allowed in the daylily bed as it sends off runners in all directions and gets mixed in with the other plants so I have several clumps of it in the borders instead, if you wash the roots you'll be able to see how each fan is joined and with a penknife its possible to seperate into individual fans which will each make a new plant, depends how many you want, or you can just chop it with a spade if its really big like any other perennial.

Love the doubles (I have a lot of hopefuls for next year). Save room for a few new potential applique throats [heh, heh]. You know, of course, that when you get seeds, you should open the bag and air them for maybe an hour before closing and refrigerating them. They come out of the fridge, get packed and shipped; and some moisture develops that needs to be evaporated. (I forgot to put a piece of paper towel in each bag)
