I did see Lava Spike very nice, Wylie has the best ideas for crosses, keep trying , I've tried a couple of his recommendations too and have I with a seed pod forming.
My Moose Man got the dreaded gall midge really bad but does have a couple of buds left, last year it did rebloom though so fingers crossed.

I have had few problems using Moose Man as pollen parent.
Here is something I have found useful: look at the tip of the pistil. It should start to open into 3 parts, which means it is ready to be pollenated. If there is a gummy liquid, you are too late. The pistil should not have any spurs or other defects.
"Not Lips of Fire" is even reblooming.

After watching the link you sent me about making crosses Wylie I realised I was probably trying to use damaged or split pistils, having more success now I'm checking first :-)
I have several friends who've been to see the daylilies and commented on 'Not Lips of Fire' whatever it is its lovely :-)
