A little start I didn't think I would see! So much so, the flowering stem, that twig in back was all I left to show me something was there. For weeks I kept looking at it, thinking, that stick means something is there, but I don't know what. I'd already counted this one out. And look, what a wonderfully colorful entrance back to the world, this one! I'd say I'm so glad to have no slugs this far north, but I already found a live snail crawling around, first I've ever seen here, ever!

It was immediately killed after watching it for a moment. Its since became very dry and I have no worries here now. Its just too cold for a snail to get through the winter. I'm warmer, on the hill and worried a little about it.
