I planted that Howea in '92. I hoped to see it grow taller then my home. Almost there in trunk feet.
And the bent fronds are from last years tree pruning. Fell right on the Howea. Just as not planned.

The King might be one near a SF Victorian. Its about 30'?..You probably have seen it. When they get above a home, they stand out as I'm on BART.

I know off the 101 Freeway (on a hill) there's a very old and tall Howea which has been in front a small house for as long as I can remember. I went to see it more than 25 years ago. The trunk had the classic elephant foot look. Is this the tree you are referring to?

I'm not sure. Going to Flora Grub I could see it even closer- but not a real close driveby.
ah- wait there is another that can bee seen from the freeway.
I cant zig and zag through SF to see plants like here. I get lost!
Too much waiting for GPS to get me there if I go off course.

I took a still photo of the Howea fosteriana back in 1987 or 1988. I have it somewhere. This was way before digital cameras.

What else?
See who else is growing Howea forsteriana (Kentia palm).
See who else has plants in genus Howea.

This Howe fosterana looks terrific! I know there's some tall old ones in the SF Bay Area.
My friend who used to live in the Richmond hills planted 4 large boxed ones (from Rancho Soledad) about 20 plus years ago...these 4 Howeas had about 12' of trunk 6 years ago. I couldn't believe how large and tall they were.
