I'm glad your Irises didn't get washed away!
I wish I knew the exact name of this large Iris! It's so beautiful and blooms off-and-on throughout most of the year.

do you have a close up of the flower, D1? Does your iris have three petals and three falls? I had a look at the wiki page for Iris...what an over abundance of info! there is a list of south African iris...you might find yours there, perhaps? I'm thankful my irises stayed put...but I lost one of my ligularia and six Iris pseudacorus that I had planted only the day before! I found two in the detritus...but the rest will show up down stream somewhere either this season or next!..at least I'm hopeful!

Crikey Delonix - Iris grow like weeds here!!!!!!
Seriously though, this is merely a member of the Iris family. It looks like Dietes or Moreae species.

Some species grow wild and bloom all year here, also.

Wow! mine are just starting...the siberians nearly got washed away in the beaver dam flood! They were slow this year but we've had a very cold spring...and it's pouring rain today. Lots of moisture so everything in the garden is looking happy, especially the irises.
