I've just planted one of these, hope I get some of these unusual flowers next year.

This is my second - it self-seeded. The flowers continue until late Autumn. Berries then. It's not at all fussy -sun or shade. It grows quickly, too. Good luck.

I have one of these and it is now about 9 foot tall and 8 foot wide! Full of flowers and most often there is a bee on every one. I love it but at the end of the season I will be cutting it back so it can (hopefully) start again. Do birds eat the fruits?

Sorry for the delay - my broadband vanished! My other one was very big and this one would like to be. As it self-seeded in the bird area I intended to shape it anyway (without the help of the pigeons). All the birds land on it but I havn't noticed them eating the berries. At the moment the rowan, pyracantha and cotoneasters are easier for them - and it's a bit like piccadilly circus on the leycesteria...

What else?

See who else is growing Leycesteria formosa (False Nutmeg).

See who else has plants in genus Leycesteria.

This photo is of "Pheasant berry" in Volval's garden
