I live in the north east of England with my husband, Jimmy, and daughter, Grace. I've always liked gardening but work full time as a Nurse Practitioner so don't have the time I would like to have to spend in the garden. I would describe myself as an enthusiastic novice, and unfortunately keep learning by my mistakes!

Our house is relatively new, we've lived here for 11 years and it was 3 years old when we moved in. We have a largish west facing back garden that was just lawn and patio for a long time, as with most new houses we are quite over looked and one of the first things we did was plant some trees for sceening. Not wanting them to dominate the garden we opted for a silver birch and a mallus 'profusion', these are maturing nicely but privacy is still an area that I need to address.
