Tropaeolum Tricolorum

Tropaeolum Tricolorum (lilium Mackliniae)

Such a delicate climber for a very sheltered and well drained spot in the garden. This has survived two winters so far in my garden and I am delighted. It is in a large square trough , planted deep and in the rear corner of the trough which is sited against a south facing wall within a small courtyard which is protected on three sides . The only exposed side is facing west . This courtyard is within a protected microclimate. The color combinations certainly draw the eye ! The foliage is so delicate, as is the whole plant. This was purchased from Paul Christian Rare Plants over the internet. The climber erupts from something which looks like a small new potato ! Really interesting and beautiful ! Long may it survive....I do so love the surprising survivors !
