Lilium henryi, is a virtually indestructible Chinese lily, with small, tightly reflexed, golden orange flowers with festive papillate “whiskers.” Happily accepts alkaline soils and almost any garden conditions. 3 to 6 feet and flowers in August.

I like this - and the "virtually indestructible" bit!

I honestly dk Karen but assume if your weather is not too unlike ours that they would flower around August. They are said to like alkaline soil and a dressing of lime is a good idea once a year. From my reading about them I have found out that they range in colour from almost white to yellow to orange. I like the virtually indestructible bit too Mel. Apparently this is a well known lily used for hybridizing.

Love its knobbly bits, Sg...and that it flowers so late. Would it be a late flowerer here too, do you think?
