They look really healthy Spritz, love the strappy leaved plants they never seem to look tatty.

I never grown them but I think I should, yours is lovely. :o)

I do hope the new variegated ones get at least one flower - they were new last year, so maybe they'll wait until next year. We'll see. They are lovely plants, Sandra... so you should try them!
Have you got any, Bell?

Well Spritz, I actually bought one today! Looking at the lovely spikey leaves on yours set me off, so I bought 3 new plants because they were buy 2 get third free. I bought Liriope "Big Blue". which is in flower at the moment; Dianella Flax Lily - a beautiful variegated spiky leaved plant, both of these are evergreen. The last one is Houttuynia Cordata "Bobo" which has beautiful green, red and white variegated leaves and they have a lovely smell of orange peel when rubbed and white flowers in midsummer. Looking forward to finding a nice spot to place them tomorrow!

I've got 'Big Blue', as well! Bluespruce sent it to me and it has one flower this year. :-) I'm glad you found one, plus, of course, as part of a bargain - even better!
Dianella is on my wish-list...one day!
I have Hottuynia cordata 'Chameleon'...you will be careful where you plant it, won't you - it can be a thug...mine pops up actually IN the stream instead of on the bank!

Will have to watch that one then Spritz, just loved the smell and needed a plant to spread around base of clematis arch as it always looks so bare.
7 Sep, 2010
Oh, it'll spread all right! Don't get me wrong - I like it, but yes, it ill need watching.

Thank you Spritz. While I'm on have you had any martagon or tiger lilies? They are on my current wish list, but I'm not sure how easy or hard they are.
7 Sep, 2010
I had a tiger lily by mistake last year! It came with a set of lovely pink lilies, and stood out like a sore thumb in my pink/mauve border!!!
They are easy.
I planted martagon lilies this year - they've been hopeless. Maybe next year? I was warned that they take time to settle in.

Thanks for the info, I will just have to give them a try, it's worth it if the do come on.

Maybe they'll like your garden better than mine, Bell, :-)
