How long do you expect this to stay in flower?

Probably till near on christmas and then the berries take over... I planted this around 5 years ago.. I know that a lot of them get very leggy and tall. I have tried to prune carefully but heavily to ensure that it shoots from the bottom.. It looks lovely.

That looks wonderful. Mine is still a baby, planted this time last year, but it's just coming into flower. Which bits do you cut off?

I cut the whole of the flowering stem quite well down..hopefully to encourage new stems from low down. I have seen lots that are 5 foot tall but nothing at the bottom.

Did you do this from when it was young? If I cut off my one and only stem, it would be a huge gamble, wouldn't it! When do you cut it back, please?

Yes I pruned it from the 1st frowering, but... and this is a big but .. please don't blame me if you do it with yours and end in disaster. I'd hate to be the one to give advice and kill yours off! I cut it back well into the spring after the berries have shrivelled a bit.

Nice, I have a Mahonia 'Bealei only just starting to flower now (always a few weeks behind 'Charity') but the flowers seem to last until February
