Mandevilla splendens 'Red Ridding Hood' blooms here in San Diego all year. It's commonly used as small shrubs or viney shrubs here in commercial planting. Photo taken Dec. 30, 2010.

This plant does not pop up all over my yard. It's a hybrid, so it would not grow true to type from seed.

It's strange, though: my 'Red Riding Hood' isn't red, but it's a much deeper pink than that.

I know. Even the pink-flowered ones are called 'Red Riding Hood...not sure why. As you know, there's so many varieties out there now.
