Mango flowering.

Mango flowering. (Mangifera indica (Mango))

This is a rootstalk Mango. So I would guess its as primitive a Mango as they come. Compare to Klahanie's Mango or any of Andy- Delonix pics and it has a much more compact inflourescence. Fruit ripens around September. A long time to develop.

Thank you!

Also- I should point out for others that if you look very close, every greenish dot is a mango. Hundreds that will soon thin itself to maybe 12-20 fruits, that eventually will only allow maybe 3 to ripen correctly. I have to decide which three are the best, strip off any others.
That's for a young 6' tree.

Stan510:

It's so amazing to see a mango tree blooming in Hayward this time of year. This is during the same time they're blooming here in San Diego.

You'll have to see the photo of the Maradol papaya I posted growing in Hayward which was full of large fruit. I was actually shocked to see it.

Where? I've never got them to make it past December- except this year. And it passed with no marks on it. Like a hardy plant.
Croton Petra not the same,Delonix is dormant so I cant tell really.I do see green stems.
It took a few weeks for Jan 1st's 33f to really show. Some tender plants did fine, others took a hit.

Crotons are very difficult even in a very mild year up in the Bay Area. You should be proud of yourself to get one through all of December.

My Crotons are blooming like crazy. I can't believe my large Croton has so many flowers at this time of year.
