Found an old piece of 2x2,cut one end on a slant with a Skillsaw..then pounded with my old sledge hammer while I stood on a ladder. I didnt try to force it too deep..I didn't want to snap the old wood.
Looks better!.

I could have sworn too Penny that I had pounded it vertical..but that branch was stiff and I guess sort of put a lean to the stake. As long as the branch is vertical it will work.

lol Stan its harder to see its vertical when on a ladder as long as the branch is supported with out braking that's all that counts.

It's looking very lush and beautiful! I like the shape, also.

You can see also that the Dioon is flushing..but only 4 new leaves. Large new,but only four. It really has taken a long time to settle in since I re-potted it 2 years ago now. It skipped last year,so the old fronds are really old and ratty. Tough call..prune all old ones off? Or leave until they turn brown?

Your Dioon looks excellent, also. Is that a Cycas circinalis in the background?

That's my one and only of that. Does very well for a more tender cycad. I need to repot that next year..this is the last for the blue plastic one its in..cracking and splitting.
I have a few cycads without really trying to collect them. Zamia f. D.spinulossum,Sago,Ceratozamia mexicana,Encephelartos ferox- larger sized after 15 years. And,E.lehmanni blue form Kirkwood. That last I actually ordered. Taking some time to get going this year, but looks ok for a seedling from two years ago.
