And of course, the goldfish continue. This has bloomed almost all year since it started about two years ago. So fun and rewarding.

Nematanthus gregarius. This one has stiffer curled leaves while some varieties have soft or even fuzzy ones, but these have the firmest flowers as well. Very fun. I just saw one today at a womans house with purple tint to the leaves and red stripes down the flowers. Got the shot on my phone, but that takes a bit for me to get to the computer. :-) You can link to my other shots of it at My Garden to the left or use the other links to see other peoples, if there are any. :-).

Thank you Morgana and TOG. :-) I took it as cutting from a plant 7 years ago and it has really gotten big. Needs a trim, but its always blooming so I just never get to it. Needs lots of sun.

You have a magic touch, Gt.... I love these plants but have never had success with them...

Thank you Lori. It did little to nothing for a few years. Once I put the sodium lamp on it, it started to bloom and continues since then. Needs sooo much light, and good solid real light, wont do so well with the bluer fluerescents.

Aha! so it's the light spectrum! Thanks Gt!

Sure. Accidental discovery, but vital I think. Delonix swears his blooms because of the San DIego Sun.

Mine did really well outside over the summer and bloomed a lot. It did NOT like moving back inside and dropped most of its leaves. I'm hoping it will recover. Mine is Nematanthus 'Tropicana' with striped flowers. They are related to african violets but require much more light.

Oooo, is that one with the softer wider leaves as well as the longer striped flowers? I've kept eyeing them, but haven't added one. I aught to now I've more space next to this one. I can understand it not liking the move. Maybe a trim when it shows new growth to keep it filled in and it will probably recover. Must have gone dormant, thinking the winter had come. :-) Mine is very stiff and waxy looking, unusual from those I've seen available for purchase.
