We have a dessert and cards evening once a week with friends, and Patrick picked this display for the table.

Thanks, I'll pass that on to Patrick. One of our friends is a chocolate fiend, so it was Brownies, ice cream and home-made chocolate sauce. I'm usually more experimental than that, but I had had a busy day, so stuck to basics. It was appreciated anyway.

Sounds lovely!

Sounds wonderful even if it is a bit posh for the likes of me.

We only do this once a week, Toto. More of an excuse to clean the house up a bit, than anything. Usually at our house it's a hunk of bread, cheese and a mug of strong tea, and you brush the crumbs off your lap onto the floor... I must admit when I walked in the door and saw this, I asked, "Whose wedding?"

These make lovely cut flowers!

Thanks for putting me at my ease Elke. I though perhaps you wouldn't speak to me again. Your usual fare is more my style and even that I have to wrestle the mice for.

Mice? Mice??? That's not even trying, Toto. Come this way and help fight off the vicious raccoons (with bared fangs - theirs, not mine), the porcupines, the turkey vultures, the bald eagles, the deer, the black bears... They're not satisfied with crumbs either, they want the whole loaf (preferably with dollops of apple jelly and slathered in clotted cream)! The crows have eaten all the strong soap I put out around the plants to deter the deer... I bet NewfieNurse can add a moose or two to that list too... Ah, the joys of a peaceful life in the country... :)
Excuse the rant. I have a rush overnight job to do, and I'm not a happy camper... I need my sleep.

But we do have big mice in Essex.

You can always make me smile, Toto! Thanks, I needed that.
