A really reliable Penstemon.
It's a dwarf variety & the name tells you all that you need to know about the flowers.
It's absolutely heaving with flower buds.
I was always lead to believe that it was a little tender, but this year it seems stronger than ever!

Sid, I got similar results on the net too, but this one is six years old now & remained green even through the last winter. I'd like to say that I give it lots of love & mulch it etc, but I don't!
I'll try to take a couple of cuttings this year just in case.

That's funny - I actually grew a load of these from seed one year and from memory I think they flowered in their first year, I lost a couple over the following winter, the remaining ones flowered well in their second summer and then I lost the lot over the winter. I researched it at the time on the net (before GoY!) and found they are regarded as quite tender, as you say, and short lived. Well, you're obviously doing something very right by it! They are a lovely colour!
