Penstemons flowering recently

Beautiful collection you have the pink would be my favourite.

They are lovely. I bought 3 plugs of "Heavenly Blue" this year and they look healthy but are still fairly low to the ground leaves and not sign at all of any flowers. Got them a couple of months ago. Bit disappointed as last year seeing everyone else's photoes of them thought would really like them in my garden.

Jen, be patient, still time for flowers. They do seem to flower on and on once they start. I think I sowed the seeds quite early last year, had 3 flowered the first year, this year some more. Even took a cutting off a non flowering shoot of the purple, its first year.

Lol. That really is something I have to learn when gardening ?

Our garden favorites Sue we always take masses of cuttings they flower all season long right up until the frosts ... I have found that if you layer a stem ( just peg it down with a piece of wire or plastic bag tie ) it will produce a new plant ...

Amy, haven't tried layering a Penstemon, that would save a lot of faffing around with pots!

Its works Sue , do it towards the end of the season you should have a nice new plant where you pegged it down next year ...

Ah, Amy, I would be impatient for a new plant this year, so will probably still look to see if there is a non-flowering side shoot from which to take a cutting soon. They root so quickly.
