This clustering palm is growing in a section of Balboa Park which I haven't visited for almost 3 years. Luckily our weather has gotten back to normal "HOT" for this time of year. It's still 80F/27C at 10:00 p.m. which is pretty typical for July. Tomorrow suppose to be even hotter and humid...maybe close to 100F/38C. for inland San Diego. Photo taken July 13, 2010.

Meanie:
Yes, by the ending of this week through this weekend we may be under "excessive heat warnings" which is not good -- like you said: that's the weather!

There used to be a nice one around the corner from my home. A new owner cut it down. It was a good 25'. First he took out the smaller trunks...then a little time went by and then the big one. Like he was going to keep it and changed his mind.

I've seen many in the SF Bay Area. Fremont in Mission San Jose has many P. reclinata and rupicola on the grounds of Ohlone College.
