This Phoenix canariensis seems awful close to your fence. It will eventually become a monster tree of more than 80ft/25m tall.

Really? 25m tall? Wow, that'll be fantastic!! But it won't happen soon, I guess. It's still young and small so I have to be careful in winter!

I see you live in the UK. It's highly unlikely it would grow to 25m or taller, like here in San Diego, CA. There are old Canary Island palm trees in California 100ft/31m tall.

I live in the UK but nearly all my photos are taken in our garden in south west France. Therefore, the climate is a bit milder than in UK. But still, it's not hot like in San Diego, therefore, my Canary Island palm tree won't grow as tall as the ones there in CA.
I planted a tiny palm right behind the Canary palm this summer.. Maybe they are too close together......?

South west France has a pretty mild climate, especially along the Mediterranean...and it's pretty darn hot (I've been there before).
The palm in back the of Canary Island Palm is really close. Is this palm a Trachycarpus fortunei or Chamaerops humilis? It's difficult to tell in this photo.

Our place is not along the Mediterranean; about 100km east of Bordeaux. The climate there is mild, but can be freezing in winter; it can go down to -7 degrees (c). However, according to a neighbour who moved to our little village from Provence, it's much warmer in our village than Provence because we have no strong and freezing wind in winter.
So you've been there to that region in France before! I wonder where exactly it was (please ignore me if it's too personal or if it's the top secret or something!).
About the little palm, I don't know what it is because I just bought it from a car-boot sale without knowing its name. I'll take a close-up photo (if I remember doing it!) so that you can identify it (could you be so kind to do that for me, please please, Delonix1???).
We are off to France tomorrow and coming back on the 22nd of Oct. We bought the place two years ago and we still have lots to do, both in the garden and in the house. We still haven't got a land line nor internet yet, and TV to boot! But I love it there :-)

I've been through many regions of France, however, never to Bordeaux. -7ÂșC is very, very COLD!!!
If you take a closer photo of the little palm, I can identify it for you.
Have a great time in France! I wish I was going, too. :>)

I uploaded a photo of the little one yesterday, so please identify it for me when possible. Thank you very much in advance :-)
