Well,you can Google Wiki on that one..but it does explain why in old time cowboy movies they sometimes ask for a "Sassparilla"!
No,this isn't that plant..but the leaves do have an aroma like that.

Thanks 3d -I did know it was a drink though - the "beer" word gives it away, lol! I was wondering how it was made and if you make it at home, and what it tastes like etc.
I used to be given sarsaparilla in the spring when I was a child to "purify the blood". Nobody toled me how it got contaminated over the winter but perhaps they meant it helped clear infections. Seem to remember it had a nice liquoricy flavour.I will Google it as you suggest Stan.
