Rhododendron 'Mandarin Lights'

Rhododendron 'Mandarin Lights' (Rhododendron spp.)

Close-up of the flowers. This is one of only a few azaleas that are cold-hardy where I live. There are a few others that will grow here but the cold winter temps usually kill the flower buds.

Gorgeous shame the cold kills the flowers

It's only the bad winters that kill them and it seems like we have a couple mild winters followed by a brutal one. These Northern Lights azaleas flower every year so that's nice but I haven't found another type of azalea that's anywhere near as reliable.
