This was a very large Madagascar Jasmine blooming along the cyclone fence at Fullerton Arboretum. It's flowers are very sweetly fragrant. Photo taken June 28, 2014.

You have to get very close to pick up the scent in California. Its nowhere's near as fragrant as Brugmansia 'Charles Grimaldi" for example. The flowers of Stephanotis are a very elegant shade of white though when shade or moonlight hits them.

Here in San Diego where it's a lot more humid than in Hayward, the fragrance is superb. I have Brugmansia 'Charles Grimaldi" and many other varieties of Brugmansia. I love when they bloom.

Might be...the warmer near 70f nights you get and coastal air make a difference. I've always heard humid climates get a stronger carry with fragrant plants.

Yes, the night lows in summer are around 70 if not in the low 70's and mid to upper 70's when it's very hot. The low temp this morning was 70ºF. Yesterday, the high here was 88ºF. (which is not too bad, as it can be much hotter this time of year).
