Once the seeds have either been eaten by the birds or fallen to the ground, there's a rather nicely shaped bright red seed pot left in the tree looking almost like a flower.

Louise - this is actually a photo that does do justice to the colours of the things in it. That is the bright orangey red colour of the pods!

Mamagem - they sure do look like hearts. That's exactly what my granddaughter calls them - heart pods!

Thanks Indypendant. Even though this tree is native to my area, very few people know anything about it or recognise it - and I would have been one of them before I did a bit of research (all thanks to this site which ignited my interest).
