Sternbergia sicula - 2010 (Sternbergia sicula)

For full sn in a gritty soil where it grows to three or four inches. Protect from excessive wet. S. lutea is similar but taller with smaller flowers

This is a lovely flower. I first saw Sternbergias growing in the wild in Spain, in the town were we used to live. We went back for our son's wedding 3 years ago & these lovelt plants were growing wild in a small patch of ground unattened by anyone & in the driest, hottest, poorest conditions you can imagine - outside a desert!

I've been to the Cambridge Botanical Garden twice in the last 10 days & I took photos of them growing there.
