How close to the true colour is this?

This is the true color. I was actually surprised my iPhone picked up true colors on these flowers.

I really like this Tibouchina because the royal blue flowers fade to this reddish-purple.

Yes, my friend in Oakland, which is across the bay from San Francisco has a very large tree in his front yard. He's had his tree for more than 20 years. Years ago, when I first saw it, it was called T. semidecandra.

Yes, I've been to Exotica Fruit Nursery many times. Some of the plants are very expensive, though (I do know he's got some of the really unusual plants).

Yes, Walter Andersen's Nursery is my favorite nursery in San Diego. I used to absolutely LOVE Pacific Tree Farms, until they went out of business. :>( I hardly purchased anything there, though, as they were extremely expensive! (but they had the very, very exotic and difficult to obtain plants).
