Lots of work to be done...

Spent my morning digging up saplings and putting blueberry bushes into the ground, with help from my little brother of course.. While I’m a bit sore I feel like I’ve accomplished a great feat for one morning, Then I took the kids to the pool to cool off for a little while and tucker them out.

So here’s a little bit of the view of work to be done, some clearing, buildings to be fixed etc. so enough of all that and on with the tour…

some of todays blueberry bushes

The view to the East

The smokehouse is to the left, its falling down otherwise I would love to use it as a garden shed, might save some of the siding, doors and windows when we pull it down and use them on the new building.

The view of the drive gate, and a few trees that need to be cleared, we will be keeping the big one in the back.

This is my “little” brother helping to uproot some stuborn saplings…

The space all clear of the little suckers!

A view to the East towards the tree my daughter wants a treehouse, the forest preserve and one of the barns, might one day clear out a bit of the trees and plant a fruit orchard, I believe there was once peach trees and that sort. and/or perhaps a vinyard we have wild grapes growing everywhere!

We ended our day with a walk from the house we are staying in down the the house we are renovating, and where the garden is and do some blackberry picking, and the ripe blueberries, they were very tasty and my little sister made them into a cobbler.

hope you enjoyed the little tour and stay tuned as I make progress in making this wildrness into a beautiful retreat!.
