For anyone who wants to start an allotment.
If you are on waiting list for a allotment and cant wait.
tip 1
go round to all the allotment sites you know,
tip 2
ask if there are any spare ,
tip 3
you will never know till you ask.and you might be lucky and be allocated 1 straight away, because that is the way i obtained my allotment.it was the most overgrown plot on the site, bramble 5 and 6 ft high covering the whole plot ,no shed for shelter, but because i had the tenacity to take it on,i was given it , you will be amazed by what will propell you to clear and start to set it up,it gives you a new zest, and time years will pass like weeks, people on the sites are the most friendly people on the earth, from all cultures and backgrounds ,some folk are retired, some are disabled, some have a full time job also.so take my advice, you might score lucky just like me.

It must be wonderful to have an allotment. Everyone who has one seems so happy to spend time there.

I am on a very long waiting list, and learned yesterday that plans for 30 brand new ones in a local park have had to be shelved in the face of opposition from local dogwalkers. :-( Good for you, using your initiative and actually getting one. :-)
