Well done Jacque .. our Breckland town council had a tree giveaway day , they were going to hand them out in the market square , we and other people turned up to collect one and nobody arrived to hand them out .. we went home and rang the council .. guess what ., they had given out the wrong date , they promised to deliver one of our choice to our house .. we chose a Rowan ... It hasn't arrived yet ..

Goes to show that the council dosn't know what it's doing half the time , we only had to go up the road for it but some people came in specially .. ..

Oh Jacque you are good to be so exact. Unfortunately, my tree was planted much too early, in August and now there isn't room for any more. It was a Corylus Contorta, nice and small for a smallish garden. I didn't know about it then. Still better August than not at all.
Amy, that sounds so Norfolk, no one turning up to give them out. Nice idea though. Hope you get your's before December 11th! would love to know.
Thanks for the info Drc726.
Jacque I wonder how many GoY members planted one.

The wildlife will love you Jacque.
Amy: Only the council could get something so wrong.
Our local council has been giving trees away too - 2 per household.
My mum ordered 2 which she gave to me - I got 2 walnut, one wild pear and one cherry plum

Thanx Suey/San/Dawn im so glad i didnt plant it straight away :)

We have never regretted planting our Hawthorn some years ago now. It gets a bit frisky, sticking out over next door and needs to be restrained. The birds love the feeders placed on it. It screens out new houses at the back. It's another little tree to help keep the air cleaner and a refuge for birds. No free trees from our council yet, but a very useful (not free) green bin, which we share with another person.
