August berries

Well, Hi there all you fellow Leo gardeners (and those of you who are not!) This time of the year there are so many berries everywhere, even more so it seems this year ?
I am just becoming more interested in them and keep rushing to the computer to identify my local berries. There are lots of hawthorns and I have put some to dry with leaves. I am thinking of seeing how they would be in a tea. There seems to be lots of information in their favour – does anyone have any thoughts or warnings…
Guelder berries are fantastic right now but seem to be a bit of a bother to do anything with…. any ideas?
I missed the lime flower and the elderflower, that’s sad. Must stop being so busy!!! Never put off til tomorrow what you can do today. Mind you if I tried to do it all “today”, I’d never sleep :) lol

Blackberries. - I love blackberries. I've seen lots of blackberries this year. If the rain clears up I think we may go and pick some one day.

Janie.....don't try raw Guelder Rose ( viburnum ) berries...they'll make you ill! They MUST be cooked. You can make them into Guelder Rose Jelly, with sugar and crab apples ( recipes online via Google! )
Hawthorn berries can be made into jellies and sauces, quite 'tart' but good with game dishes and the like....again, Google!
Best of luck!
