Frog to show Hywel

Hywel
This is the black frog that I saw in our garden this year. Had never seen one like this before.
We have newts in our ponds too, and they do eat the frogspawn. I have also on several occasions nearly spiked a little newt with my trowel when clearing weeds in the border. They are so cute I think, yet I wouldn’t like to hold one.

Thanks for showing the frog. I didn't know there were such things.
I like to see newts but haven't seen one for years.

We used to have a small pond at the front of the house. When we decided to do away with this we drained it and rescued 21 newts. They varied in colour and size obviously. We had no idea there were so many there and transferred them to our neighbour's much larger pond.
They are quite pleasant to hold but they are quick-moving, not as quick as our daughter's gecko. Now that needs watching!

He's a splendid fellow ands looks as though somebody has been polishing him!
I love newts too and am hoping to have some soon - our next door neighbour has some and I did find one in the garden last year so we are hoping.
