Monitor Lizard at Singapore Botanic Garden

It was a beautiful afternoon and my husband and I had decided to bring our 5-year old daughter to the Singapore Botanic Garden.
We had proceeded to our favourite pond where we would throw pieces of bread to feed the fishes.
Look who came swimming by:

After staying motionless for about 20 minutes, our friend the monitor lizard managed to catch a fish. It then started to smash the wriggling fish in its mouth against the hardy stem of a palm.
After swallowing the fish, the lizard just swam away, oblivious to me taking photographs of it ambushing and then devouring its prey!
