A trip to the Singapore Botanic Garden, 21Feb 2009

My family had enjoyed our previous outing to the Singapore Botanic Garden last Saturday that we decided to bring our daughter Liz to the same place for a picnic. As soon as my hubby parked the car and waited for the rain to stop, I spotted a black squirrel on a tree. Although I’ve seen many squirrels here before, I was never fast enough or near enough to take photographs. But I managed to this time.
This time we proceeded to the National Orchid Garden, which I had missed the last trip.
Liz enjoyed feeding the ducks, pigeons, terrapins and swans.

Thanks for all the comments. The next time I must visit the rainforest at the Botanic Garden. Not convenient with my 4 yr old gal. She wants to be carried after 30 mins :)
Hywel, it might be a dark brown squirrel? Might look black cos of the camouflage.
Spritzhenry, my next trip, I must go and visit the Orchid Centre proper. It was late and I had only less than an hour of viewing time, so had taken these few shots outside.

Lovely photos Justjan. thank you for the blog. There are black squirrels here in Canada. They live all over Stanley Park in Vancouver. They are bigger than the other squirrels and tend to be a bit more aggresive.

Thanks. I never get to see squirrels in my neighbourhood, monkeys only.
Gilli, I love Vancouver. Nice people, nice food, nice scenery. I was there in 2004, but did not see any squirrels then. I took so many photos. Oh, I remember I saw a big bear when we were travelling to Edmonton by car though. Canada is a wonderful place. I must visit my cousin again. :)

Vancouver is beautiful isn't it JJ. I lived there for many years. If you travelled to Edmonton by car you probably travelled through Kamloops where I live now. Glad you were able to catch sight of a bear....I hope you stayed in the car though...LOL.

Haha Gilli, I was out of the car to take a photo. The bear was huge, black (grizzly?), cute but far away. I couldn't take a good shot. I took a few photos of an Eagle though. alas, I was not using a digital camera then..Edmonton was so cold.. I think it was -30 or -40 degrees C when i was there. I remember my aunt (mum's sis) had a beautiful garden. She had huge peonies in her garden and many plants in her house. I brought back a stem cutting of a vine, but it died. :(
