Today on a Swan lake.

This is the place, which I didn´t visit for years. We call it Swan lake, although it is, in fact, a dead branch of the Danube. Swans from all over the Europe arrive each year to spend the winter here.
Long time ago, I used to come here every weekend with my uncle and his dog. He died this year.

Beautiful birds, which are sometimes used as symbols of fidelity….

They were sunbathing on sunken trunks of trees…

…greasing their white feather coat with beaks….

…or just crossing with dignity and charm the lake with their kids, which still have grey feathers…

Some of them were having a nap….

The silence of a sunny but freezing winter day was interrupted from time to time by strange crackly noises, by which these beautiful birds communicate together, no matter where they were born.
Scientists learned, that swans as well as other birds use different “dialects”, but the basic language is common, no matter if the bird comes from Norway or Italy. How beautiful and simple was life before Babylon Tower :)

Is this its nest: Looks very strange…the builder was probably a chaotic bird…probably raven?

What a nice place to spend a winter time :)
