these are really beautiful kat, dreamy and cloudlike, especially the white and very pale pink ones.

Thank you, folks. I am glad you found it as beautiful as me. I love rhododendrons as you and they are worth of our admiration and care.

What fabulous blooms! When I was a child, my grandmother lived on an estate where there were many different rhododendrons and azaleas planted in the grounds. I thought they were amazing - and still do. Seeing them always reminds me of that place, where I spent many holidays, and which I loved.

Melchisedec@yes, rhododendrons are beautiful bushes, unfortunately they bloom just once in a year and for a relatively short time.
Do you visit that place from time to time?

Sadly, no, Katarina. My Granny moved on from that place, which has changed hands several times since. I do look at the area on Streetview occasionally. Unfortunately, you can't get inside the grounds, and aerial photos are very unsatisfactory!

Childhood is often once and forever abandoned world.

So true. When we are children we view the world as settled and unchanging. It is difficult to unlearn that impression! As we grow up, there is always a feeling of surprise that it is not possible to revisit places and find them the same as we remember. OH and I have just returned from a short break in his childhood area. It was very enjoyable, and we do visit there fairly regularly. It is becoming increasingly mystifying, though, seeing places change - many disappearing altogether. One of the biggest general change is seeing old industrial areas developed into places with green areas, pleasant landscapes and places to walk. It has a bitter-sweet aspect : it looks lovely, but there are so many people without jobs because the old industries have gone.

It s part of global mystification. How can you explain building new industrial parks then by a lack of real crisis? Or How can you explain that companies are increasing sales but decreasing wages? I smell Potemkin in the air.;-)

You cannot explain it, Katarina!
