The exception proves the rule.

People who for years do one and the same work, can be easily identified by certain characteristics. So for example teacher will never disappoint you and will persistently (maybe every 5 minutes or so) tell you what you are doing wrong, what is wrong with you or how would you do it or should do it. Policeman is usually shaved, by extension is Schnauzer with big moustache, likes order, doesn´t like disagreement with his vision of the world and generally, there is no fun with him. A psychiatrist is absolute liberal and everybody feels good in his/her company. Female psychiatrists wear tousled hair which once upon a time tie up to the bun. Women with a boy look are in this community exceptional, they like audience and publish a lot. Female psychiatrists love big jewelry from semi-precious stones, wear large canvas bags instead of elegant handbags and like colours on their dresses. Male psychiatrists are often bald and are heavy smokers (Freud´s complex?). Recent managers drive large cars, go to the toilet with hands-free kit plugged in ear, speak (or declare in their CV) fluent English, have holidays on Virgin islands and their daddie was definitely in the Communist party. In mountains and if you are in trouble, they are absolute freaks. All people are sorted in my mind according to this stereotypes. The other day my vision of the world was shaken by one garden. I walk by that garden several time with my French bulldog. And we always stop there admiring. Me the garden, my dog admires his little infuriated friend. It´s amazing. It has sinuous path from old bricks, which ends under thick boughs of old apple trees. The bench at the old wall is surrounded by climbing roses. Gate is made of wicker and there is also wicker pyramid at the yard, on which peas and beans are clinging. The yard is highlighted by traditional flower bed, full of roses, Dahlia, daisies, lavender and chamomile. Old large basket is full of hay and sun. No wonder, whenever I go by, there are relaxing kittens in it. Would you predict that such fairy garden belongs to our village gravedigger?
;-) Yes, it does.

Yes I would, Katarina - but I am not a fan of stereotyping ;-)

I'm not a fan of stereotyping either, in my experience people are so vary varied that often it's impossible to guess their trade. Quite a few people change jobs completely too, so by this theory they'd pretty much have to change their whole persona! Everyone has their own character and do different things in different ways. It's one of the things that makes the world so interesting:)

the man clearly enjoys digging.

Having lived with a teacher for the past 33 years, I have to say that the description doesn't fit her at all! And our son is also a teacher now(although only for one year) and it doesn't really fit him either.

Steragram@LOL. That was a good comment.
Paulthegard@Hi, Paul, thank you. Not all teachers must be like that, but I also have my own experience. I was living all life with three teachers (mother, father, aunt), lol! One year is just not enough for any work to transform you.
Louisa, Melchisedec @ Thank you very much for your comments. Yes, stereotyping is not good, but sometimes helps.

yes I too thought 'a man who likes a good double dig regeime'.
though i know many police who are so unlike the sterotype it amazes me they are police :)
25 Jun, 2013
Well, secret police was excluded. Transformation of their phenotype is part of their routine, lol.

Maybe the teachers were always telling you what to do because they were your mother, father and aunt! ;-))

Unfortunately not, Melchisedec. It might be that our system of teaching and rights of teacher were quite different from yours. I am glad to see this community respects teachers.

Yes - so am I ;-)
