funny I haven't seen a single snowflake this season yet. Usually I'd be digging my car out or trying to figure out which big white mound is my car. My back doesn't mind at all.

where my daughter is at Bridgend its just been very cold but today she photographed a peacock butterfly that has emerged in a sheltered sunny spot.
This is a lovely view.

Agree, its a beautiful view. Not a sign of snow here yet.
Poor butterfly, it will have a struggle finding any nectar.

Hi Kidsgran, yes she is there for a year's internship with the South and west wales wildlife trust, before going back to Nottingham to finish her wildlife conservation degree next year. She is mainly based at Parc Slip near Tondu but does go out to other reserves. I suggested bridgend as it has rail links and is only about 15/20 minutes from work and 10 mins from Brackla where she is living. She loves it. people are so friendly too.

Ivy flowers provide lots of nectar at this time of year Stera so hopefully I will be able to get some food before crawling into a warm sheltered spot.

Hi Seabg I know all the places you have mentioned and glad she finds the people friendly , I have grandson in is final year of studying environmental geography at Cardiff uni and he visits that site and the
Kenfig nature reserve which is not to far away so it good luck to both of our youngsters in their studies.

Yes we have also been to kenfig, though that isn't part of the SW wildlife trust. At new year we had a good run around as there were cattle egrets at PorthCawl and Parc slip was a twitchers paradise as there was a Siberian chiffchaff there.

Oh good luck for your grandson, its a nerve wracking time for them isn't it?

Yes it is ! Kenfig is a beautiful place my late husband and I walked over it many times to Sker beach with our children and grandchildren and been to parc slip also a brilliant reserve.

I have a sister living in Porthcawl which as a lovely beach and a beautiful headland which I often walk with my daughter and her hubby and it takes us all the way to Sker beach and the dunes of kenfig we have some stunning coastlines here in South Wales hope your daughter continue to enjoy her time spent studying here .
