Rutland Water

living in leicestershire I've visited Rutland Water quite often and the local paper has just reported that a second osprey has reached Senegal-- good news!

This is the place I want to visit for one particular reason. To see the late Geoff Hamilton's garden which is very near. I hope to make it one day. Look forward to seeing your pictures.

his son runs it now Costas, well worth a visit, I remember the area before it was a reservoir, if you go over to Normanton the church ( which is half sunk) is now a museum and the road goes straight 'into the drink'!

Edith Weston is very pretty as are most of the villages around there, I hope you enjoyed your stay Lammie.
Rutland Water is my local puddle and is fantastic, I used to ride my bike around those sunken roads, we took the children regularly to watch them digging the reservoir out and build the dam, it was great watching it develop.
Costas the Geoff Hamilton gardens are smashing and well worth a visit. I did a blog on them..

Hi lammie. Please add some more photos. In my childhood and late teens I lived in Rutland...being able to see the Seaton-Harringworth viaduct from the garden of my parents house. When we visit the old home...but that is no very often we always go accross to Rutland Water, hire some bikes and take a nice slow bike ride round it.
