a walk in the woods, part 1

Henry and I spent the afternoon on a nice hike. It was the perfect autumn day – in the low 70s and sunny – and we had a great time.
Gotta sniff! Lots of dogs and their people come here.
Christmas fern (I think). This is the most common fern in the area.
The trail
Sensitive fern by the water’s edge. It dies down as soon as the weather cools.
Bridge over a little stream
Creek scene
This is what remains of the steel bridge that was washed away by September 2009’s floods.
Another creek scene

Thanks for your comments. It was just such a lovely day, I wish I could go back tomorrow but I have to work. I really need to take the dogs there more often. When I lived closer I ran on the trails there several days a week.

Paradise for you both, hope you get the chance to visit often. Springtime is probably my favourite time in the woods, everything coming up anew, but Autumn is the most colourful......or should I say 'Fall' ;)

You chose a beautiful place to walk; the creeks and fallen leaves look so pretty. It's nice to be able to get out and smell the forest/fresh air and I'm sure Henry loved it too.
