what I saw on my roof

In August I saw a massive bird on my roof equal in size to a stork. When I wrote about it everyone said it must be a heron. However here is a pic of the bird I saw. All grey with huge beak. I thought crane when I first saw it but knew how rare it was .Everything I read makes me certain this is correct. I took this cutting out of our local free paper
