Sunshine and rain !

The weather this past 7 days has seen us go from sweltering to needing the heating on, a drop of 15 degrees in a week …. only in this country, eh? !!!
During the week i was needing to water the newest few plants that have only been planted within a month or two and some Marigolds that i bought in the week, last night and today though i’ve got off lightly …. plenty of continous perfectly light rain, just what the doctor ordered !!!!!
I thought i’d show you how my gardens are looking after the sunshine has warmed everything up and the rain has fed it with a nice drink.
This is part of the back garden (neutral-acid soil) showing my 2 Cistus in flower (their spent petals look like handfuls of confetti all over the lawn !) , the dry stone wall and the new obelisk with the Ipomoea romping away on it, sadly the 2 Clematis aren’t clearly seen here but they’re zooming away even in this short time.
This shows the top lawn which is where the Cistus falls from, it’s planted in a border directly opposite the Sambucus which is on this south facing fence.
The steps up onto the top lawn
This is part of the north facing side of the back garden
The following pictures show part of the front garden, this has been constantly changing as i keep changing my mind but for now it’s as it is !!!
First the sunny border (south facing), poor soil and alkaline but the plants here love it
This the opposite side (shady, north facing). There is a wave of pink, then blue and then yellow planting
Between the 2 sides is a lawn divided by a central path, this i’ve recently changed to have a ribbon border either side but i’m not sure that i like it and it may revert back to being lawns up to the paths edge !
So for now that’s it and we wait until next week when the sun’s due to return and the plants can warm up again !!!
Enjoy your gardens!

Lovely garden! The same has happened to the weather here in France - we've put the Cardis back on again.

Not only in Britain Louise, we've had it in northern Spain. I almost lit the wood fire a couple of evenings ago!

What a beautiful garden! So well planned and laid out, and very attractive schemes. Keep up the good work.
